There is no one brand of battery suits all hearing aids or cochlear implants.  There are many different types of hearing devices available, all of which have different power requirements, settings and operating environments.

The performance of the same hearing aid or cochlear implant worn by different people will vary.  One brand of battery offering excellent performance in one hearing aid may not be the best for another hearing aid.

There are many external factors which affect battery performance.  These include:

• the type of hearing aid or cochlear implant;
• the program settings;
• the volume setting;
• the amount of environmental noise the hearing aid or cochlear implant is exposed to;
• weather patterns and humidity levels;
• the fitting of the battery in the battery compartment/holder;
• the number of hours per day the hearing aid or cochlear implant is worn.

Battery technology is an art and science which is constantly evolving.  Several battery design features affecting performance include:

• size and capacity;
• materials and chemistry;
• voltage stability;
• load discharge rates;
• pulse / continuous discharge rates;
• self-discharge rates (while the battery is not being used);  and
• the manufacturer's quality control standards.

The best way for you to determine which battery suits your hearing aid/cochlear implant best is to try all the brands. Our Trial Packs give you the opportunity to test different brands without having to shop around.
